These things I cannot have
Those feelings lost for good
Hearts don’t know the letting go
And minds they know they should
This skin will shed someday
And with it memories all
The having you the losing you
This love so grand so tall
Had I know that love so sweet
Could turn to salted tears
I’d still choose you in every lifetime
Beautiful words! Beautiful sentiment!

When I was in 9th grade, I had a weird science teacher named Mr. Semple. We called it Simple Semple Science, except for me science was never easy. Mr. Semple said one thing in that nine months that really stood out. It stood out so much that here I am writing about it 6 years later. Ha. Gotcha! 28…
Hey Pat — Love reading your blogs and appreciate to share how human you are — that is sometimes hard for people to do. Keep sharing!!!

Crawling into bed at sunrise is pretty lonely. Always feels like the birds are ashamed of me. Hotel rooms are built for people like me I suppose. Thick drapes. Soundscape machines. You name it, there are things to inspire good sleep. Why do none of these things inspire ME? Maybe they do. Maybe I’m…
Sounds like a great idea, Pat. Family….sometimes you cannot live with them, but it is very hard sometimes without them. A play would be a great way to introduce yours to us. I so love the songs you wrote about your parents, I have actually requested them to be included on my life soundtrack….a funeral mix cd I am asking my kids to compile for when the day comes!!

Many of you know that I lost my father last week. He was 85 and until recently, looked like he might live to a hundred.
Thank you all for your kind words and the love and condolences. My family and I really appreciate it all and it helped a great deal to know how many people cared about him and…
A very nice tribute to your father, Pat. My sympathies to you and all of your family! The death of a parent is always hard. You will conitnue to honor your father by being the man that he raised you to be….. that is the best tribute of all!!

I keep writing blogs and tossing them out because I’m not clear enough in my words to you at the time.
I’ve written about the past and SF and Johnny Cash and all sorts of things but nothing has seemed worthy of sending.
I haven’t been ignoring you, I’ve just been cloudy in the point lately.

Hey Pat - Keep those blogs coming! How could sharing your thoughts be unworthy?? Not gonna happen. And yes, you and the rest of the band have been EVERYWHERE of late!! Take some time to rejuvenate!!! Hey… that could be a lyric?? Take care of yourself and keep those words coming —- I for one enjoy them all!!

When I was a kid, I would watch award shows and see big music stars and big time actors saying they loved their fans. It always made me crack up, knowing none of them would ever go out of their way to give any of their fans the time of day. It’s actually kept me from saying I love my/our fans on…
Pat — I know how sincere you all are as I have waited after many a show to get a picture signed or a new one taken! You have all been uber great about that!! Fans truly do appreciate that! I proudly display those pics and share stories of “my band Train”. The last 2 shows I attended in 2011 were frustrating in that security at those events would not allow us to wait!! That was hard as I know how willing you all are to connect with your fans. Hope it is not always a situation where you have to either purchase a “meet and greet” or win a radio contest to get up close and personal! Really looking forward to the new music and seeing Train on the road! And we do know as fans that we are loved!!

Then I will live to a very old age. I was just with ALL of my brothers and sisters for the first time in ten years. That was Thanksgiving just before my mom passed away.
So, there we were in Erie, PA to be with my dad during a pretty scary time for all of us due to his health struggle at 85…
Hi Pat — Beautiful thoughts and words that made me smile and cry a bit as I thought of my Dad. He was of that generation and sounds alot like your Dad in personality. Thanks for sharing Pat!

Drive By is out and what a great response you have all giving it. It’s a side of the band on our new record that is a lot of fun and up beat in a way that reflects the new energy of Train.
For those of you who were counting on a more reflective side of the band, there is plenty on the new CD….
Pat, I am excited for the album (old school term) as well. I love that Train music can be that fun “can’t get it out of your head” type as well as the music that gets to your heart and says what I would say if I were a songwriter!! It all is Train music!! I too am happy that Train, Mraz (another favorite) etc. are big on itunes. Alot has happened to music over the last 15 years and YOU ARE STILL STANDING!!! Real talent will trump the flavor of the moment if you just hang in there. You have and so have I with you!! Looking to the next chapter! Sending positive thought to you “Pops”!!

There’s a moment when you paddle out to sea, just before the wave in front of you breaks, it seems like both you and the ocean hold your breathe and you leap into one another. I feel like I am in that state of mind a lot these days. I’m waiting to leap in and hope for the best. When you rise up to…
In like I have been since I first heard Train all those years ago!! Hope to hear from you!!!
